The International Festival of Poetry “ORPHEUS” – PLOVDIV 2018 is a project of Plovdiv LIK Foundation. It includes creative, cultural, educational and promotional activities united by the desire for exchanging ideas, inspiration and creative contacts.
“ORPHEUS” – PLOVDIV 2018 is a step towards the preparation of Plovdiv for a European Capital of Culture in 2019, as well as a start of a festival platform for future literary events in the city of Plovdiv.
The first edition of the festival gathers together poets from the USA, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Turkey, Denmark, Israel, Ukraine, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Romania, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria.
“ORPHEUS” – PLOVDIV 2018 will take place from the 10th until the 14th of May 2018 in the Little Early Christian Basilica as a festival center, but its activities will cover a number of other historical and cultural spaces in Plovdiv and the region as well.
The festival includes: poetry readings, poetry competition, cultural and educational seminar, writers’ forum and exploratory trips.
The project is being implemented with the financial support of the Cultural Programme for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2018 of the National Culture Fund at the Ministry of Culture.
